Done with BC

All year we've heard from BC "We get no respect", "we'll show people".."people hate us for going to the ACC"..

Diaries ::

Well they showed us today. They showed their attitude with Sean Marshall wanting to fight Jon Herber after a jump ball. They showed their attitude with Jared Dudley proclaiming it would be "sweet" to cut down the nets at MSG and leave. They showed their attitude by arguing with the refs (Louis Hinnant) instead of just playing the game.
They got down 22 at the half. They cut it down to five and then a kid named JD and a mountaineer named Pittsnogle happened.  It couldnt have worked out any better for me. Let BC get close enough and tear their hearts out. I dont blame the kids playing for my feelings about them because their own administration did this to them. Their own administration made them villains to a whole conference. It couldnt happen to a nicer school.
All the BC AD did was complain about the treatment they got from the Big East higher ups. Well you know what Gene, suck it up. You guys took the money and ran to the ACC. You get no sympathy from me. Dont let the door hit you on the way out..

Whew! Thank you, West Virginia. Boston College always manages to put together the smuggest bunch of whiners ever on a basketball court. It must be a real challenge for Al Skinner, who I think is a tremendous coach. He has to work within that "We-deserve-everything-without-making-an-effort" atmosphere that clogs up Chestnut Hill.

Good riddance (none / 0)

Couldn't agree more RS.  BC has easily become the most classless, arrogant, punks I've seen in college bball in quite some time.  There was nothing sweeter than seeing them exposed as the phonies they are today. No class, no dignity, no honesty, and now thankfully, no Big East affiliation.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out BC!!!

So other schools would have turned ACC down? (none / 0)

So Syracuse would have turned down an ACC invitation, and the visit to Syracuse by ACC officials was just a courtesy call?  Please.

I think BC should have stayed in the Big East.  But the football money, and the potential loss of the BCS spot for the conference with the loss of Miami, prompted the decision.  It had nothing to do with basketball.  But any other Big East football playing school would have made the jump if offered to them.

BC was put in a very awkward situation when Governor Warner stepped in and made the ACC offer Virginia Tech admission to the conference as a condition for UVA's vote.  Did they handle it well and were they perhaps misleading in their dealings after the initial snub? Sure.  And, while I wish they had turned it down, there isn't a D-1 football school in the country that wouldn't jump to a BCS conference faced with the possibility of losing the automatic bid and revenue that goes along with it.

I'm sure other Big East schools hate BC for a myriad of reasons.  But for them leaving the conference?  It sucks, but it's the way it works in college athletics.

thats exactly why (none / 0)

BC handled this totally wrong and went behind the backs of the rest of the football schools to get their way into the ACC..Syracuse might have jumped but we'll never know..i know this though Syracuse didnt say we're with you guys and then bolt to another conference..I think what BC did was backhanded and not the right way to do it..and they deserve all the flack they get in any sport that they participate in this year..

It wasn't that they left... (none / 0)

We at the other BE schools don't harbor ill feelings simply because they left.  How they went about leaving though, is a main point of frustration.  Lying and backstabbing a conference that helped you achieve athletic success (actually on second thought, what success has BC ever achieved?), is classless.  And for a school w/ an affiliation to the Catholic Church to manipulate it's way to a larger payday is downright hypocritical.

Add to that the fact that they have a bunch of punks playing for them, and well, you have the perfect recipe for resentment. At least they can look forward to dominating the ACC in hockey though. Lol.

Hasn't the Vatican been manipulating it's way to larger paydays for the better part of the last 2000 years?

Relax!  I'm joking!

Unfortunately, it didn't work out (none / 0)

I am a BC fan who wishes the Big East (football-wise) didn't crumble as it had.  I love Big East basketball--I've been going to the tournament since I was 3.

Quite simply, though, BC had to make the move to the ACC.  If anybody at UConn, Syracuse, or Pitt is honest with you, they'll tell you they too would have made the switch--something that will become evident when one of the latter two leaves to become Big Ten's 12th member.

I think at some level, everybody understands that, and after time the animosity will fade.

As for the team being a bunch of punks, that's partially true.  JDudley is a great athlete--and an even better kid--but he admittedly acts like an ass on the floor.  You'll notice the team isn't always whining:  over that 10-min run where WVU was held w.out a fg, the team just saddled up and played solid D.

So, I suppose the good news for the BC detractors is when you see our guys bitching...they're gonna lose anyway.

I am admittedly sad to see the end of BC in the Big East...I still will root for the conference, and I like how it's a blue-collar (and better!) version of East Coast bball than the ACC. G'luck to 'Cuse and UConn in the BE and the NCAAs, but again, be honest with yourselves as far as the conference turmoil is concerned.

Other BE schools leaving (none / 0)

Maybe and thats a big maybe, these other schools you had mentioned may have left.  But they atleast would of had some class about they made the move.  Lying and back-stabbing leaves a bad taste in the mouth of a lot of Big East fans, good ridance BC.
