Brotherly Love

I'm in Philadelphia watching Arizona-Wisconsin.

Your thought's on today's games?

Could be a big day for the MVC (none / 0)

I really think KU will get past Bradley, but the other two games are definitely winnable for the MVC.  Going 3-1 in the first round would definitely prove a point to Packer & Co, especially when three of the wins would come against the Big East.  Possible, if not probable.

I, for one, am not shocked about the NW State win.  I'm a little surprised that they were able to do it in Auburn Hills, but this is a quality team.  Once again, Iowa doesn't come to play outside of Iowa City.

The most interesting game, to me, is the Michigan State/Mason game.  I just don't know the degree to which Skinn's absence will hurt Mason, but I also can't deny that this is not a good Michigan State team.  People seem to think they've put something together at the end of the season, but if there's one thing we've learned in the last two days, it is that conference tournament success (and their conference tournament success was moderate at best) is not an indication of NCAA tournament success.

iowa (none / 0)

Why, oh why did I have to go and pick Iowa (in my office pool) to advance to the Elite Eight, taking down West Virginia and Texas in the process?

I also had Arkansas advancing and then defeating Memphis in the second round.

Go Oral Roberts! Go Penn (ha ha)!

Oh, well, it's only twenty bucks.  And as an Illini fan, I could never be too heartbroken to see the Hawkeyes lose.  I feel sorry for those for whom the tournament is all about gambling.  I usually can't resist rooting for the underdog, even if it means my picks are wrong.

Which is good, because today my bracket is getting hammered.

Go 'Cats! (none / 0)

Everyone's yacking about how Adams came up big when the 'Cats needed him as a leader, or how brilliant Radenovic was on defense. But they're all missing something: a career night from former walk-on Brett Brielmaier.

Twenty-five minutes, tying his career high earlier this season versus Stanford; 3-3 field goals, tying a career best for field goals made; 4-4 free throws, tying his career high for attempts, setting a new career high for free throws made; 10 points, beating his previous best (again, versus Stanford) by 4; 4 offensive rebounds (tying his career best) and 8 rebounds total (a career high).

Let's hear it for walk-ons who make the cut! Way to go, Brett!
