Sendek Offered Arizona State Job?

...

The buzz in the Raleigh/Durham area is that N.C. State coach Herb Sendek has been offered a seven-figure deal to take the head coaching job at Arizona State.

Yep ... here's the report from an NCSU website:

ASU (none / 0)

The cynic in me says that Sendek is the only coach willing to listen to ASU who has as many wins against Arizona in the last 12 seasons as the entire program has had. The cynic in me also suggests that Sendek will have a bitch of time recruiting the west coast -- and the boosters will start hemmoraging if he recruits entirely from the east. Most new coaches to the Pac10 get a year or two to 'surprise' the conference before the other coaches figure them out; I really don't see Sendek getting that luxury.

The optimist in me suggests that Sendek might actually flourish in an environment where basketball plays second fiddle to football, unlike NC State.
